4 train from Woodlawn

The Lady Selling Batteries on the 4 Train

Last week, I was on the 4 train, as usual, to come to school. I take the train from Woodlawn and every day a lady comes into the train, selling batteries at Kingsbridge Road. But this lady always says “batteries” in a funny way. She says it really slow, like, "Baaa-teee-riiiiiii waaaan-daaa-laaar." Everybody on the train finds that funny because she sounds and looks retarded. She wears a dirty jacket with ripped-up jeans and a pair of really old sneakers. She has lots of packs of batteries in her hand and in her black fanny pack. But last week in particular she was funny because she was walking really slowly, and when the train shook, she hit her head on the pole.
